Feb. 11, 2008 — Gov. John deJongh Jr. announced nominees Monday to the Government Employees' Service Commission (GESC) and the V.I. Board of Nurse Licensure, according to a Government House news release.
DeJongh nominated Yolander Samuel-Deterville to the GESC to fill an open vacancy on the board. Samuel-Deterville, a certified public accountant, is comptroller for Sunny Isle Developers of St. Croix. She has also served as a member of the Water and Power Authority governing board. The term of appointment to the GESC is for two years.
DeJongh also made five appointments to the V.I. Board of Nurse Licensure. Named to the board are Cereese Lewis-Smith, Ophelia A. Powell-Torres, Rita Durant-Brin, Cynthia Stapleton and Lydia Ells. All are registered nurses and all will serve a three-year term.
The nominees' willingness to serve "will enhance the board's ability to meet its busy agenda," deJongh said, according to the release.
