Drug Enforcement Bureau Not Fully Funded

Dear Source:
It is a shame that no Elected Official of the virgin Islands Government has the backbone either fully fund the bureau or dismantle it. I was hired as the last Director of the bureau and in an attempt to shift the bureau into a positive crime fighting entity in the war on drugs some progress were made. first and foremost is the name change, then came the hiring of five (5) new Agents for the St. Thomas/St.John District as an infussion of new faces to the bureau. During my one (1) year tenure with the Agency we were awarded funding from LEPC as support of the new Bureau and the new direction of the Bureau. The men and women are dedicated and want to work and make a difference in the community. But to be held hostage for past transgression of former Agents is truely a manisfestation of a government that has failed in carrying out the mandate of the Law which created the Bureau and placing it under the Governor's Office.
