National Endowment Awards Grant to VICA

Oct. 11, 2007 – The National Endowment for the Arts has awarded a matching funds grant to the Virgin Islands Council on the Arts (VICA) in the amount of $20,000, according to a press release from Delegate to Congress Donna M. Christensen.
These matching funds will be used for the Big Read, the largest reading program in the United States that encourages Americans to discover the joy of reading great literature. The program is in its first phase of development and is scheduled to take place January 2008 through June 2008. The grant enables VICA to engage Virgin Islanders in reading and discussing "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury.
For additional information, contact the VICA at 774-5984.
