Beulah A.M.E. Zion Church Celebrates 90th Anniversary

Oct. 2, 2007 – Beulah African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, located in Estate Bethlehem, St. Croix, will celebrate its 90th anniversary Oct. 8-14. The Beulah Church is the oldest Methodist church on St. Croix. The church is located in Estate Lower Behlehem, on the road to the National Guard Armory. The activity schedule for the weeklong celebration is as follows:
1) Revival at 7:30 p.m., Monday- Wednesday, Oct. 8-10; with Revivalist: Rev. Carlton Brown, Atlanta, Ga.
2) Historical Forum at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 11; with Percival Edwards, Rev. Vincent Gordon, Dr. Arnold Highfield, Rev. Jennings Martin, Bill Taylor, Dr. Charles Turnbull and Chester Williams, who will discuss the history and relationship of the Bethlehem Village and the Beulah Church.
3) Gospel Concert at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 12; the Lansiquot Sister, St. Croix Big Band and other guest artists and choirs will minister.
4) Youth Outreach Activity from 1-5 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 13; there will be games, prizes, gospel rappers, steel bands and free food.
5) Men's Night at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 13; this event is for men only to discuss health issues affecting men. Presenters will include medical professionals.
6) Sunday Morning Worship at 10 a.m., Oct. 14; Rev. Dr. Michael Bell, from North Carolina, will preach the morning sermon. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed on the church grounds following the service.
7) The 90th Anniversary Worship Service at 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 14; Bishop Richard K. Thompson will preach the Anniversary Sermon. Guest choirs and the St. Croix Big Band will minister and religious and civic officials will extend remarks.
The theme for this celebration is "The Beulah Church: A Spiritual Force in the Community for 90 Years." The general public is invited to join in this celebration, all to the glory of God.
