Another Homicide Rocks St. Thomas

July 28, 2007 – The body of St. Thomas resident Alvin Morton was found Saturday morning in the trunk of a car alongside Peterborg Road on the Magens Bay side facing north.
Morton, an employee of the Office of the Governor, had been shot multiple times.
A jogger called 911 at 7:44 a.m. to report seeing the suspicious car, according to Police Commissioner James McCall.
Little else is known about the incident or about Morton as of publication time.
McCall said family members and police were gathering at the hospital and he expected more information would be released later.
McCall said Saturday afternoon he was "outraged by the series of senseless acts of violence that have occurred within the last couple of weeks."
Just over a week ago Trevor Joseph was shot and killed while servicing an automated teller machine on St. Thomas.
McCall encouraged community members to come forward with any information that might help with the investigation of these and other crimes.
He said all resources of the V.I. Police Department and other law enforcement agencies would be brought to bear in solving this most recent homicide.
Anyone with information should call 911 or major crime 715-5534.
