March 29, 2007 – The Gladys Abraham Elementary School schedule of activities to celebrate Virgin Islands History Month and Virgin Islands Women's Month. The V.I. History Special featuring musical presentations by King Derby, Jamesie and the St. Thomas Heritage Dancers begins at 1 p.m., on Friday, March 30, according to a press release from Principal Whitman Browne.
The entire school will salute the women of the V.I. on Tuesday, April 23, by focusing on the achievements of three noted educators/administrators who once led the school: former principals Gladys A. Abraham, Dr. Arthurlyn Thomas and Aloma Blake.
The program for the day also includes outstanding V.I. women of music: Judy Turnbull, Lorna Freeman-Dennis and Neomie Toussaint-Williams. The school's choir and band will make additional music presentations.
"We gladly invite and encourage the public's participation in our programs as we celebrate these very important observances," Browne said.
