Dodgers Outlast Reds, 10-6, in Midweek Little League Action

March 29, 2007 — The Dodgers exploded for six runs in the top of the fourth to break open a close 2-2 ball game and went on to beat the Reds, 10-6, in Wednesday night’s Little League action at D.C. Canegata Ball Park in Christiansted.
Both starting pitchers, DeOndre Simmonds for the Dodgers and Stephen Rodriquez for the Reds, turned in good performances, but the difference in the game was the number of walks given up by the Reds pitcher.
Batting first, the Dodgers got on the board right away with one run on a Reds error to take the early lead and then added another run in the top of the second on a passed ball to take a 2-0 lead.
The Reds got on the board in the bottom of the inning with one run on an RBI single off the bat of Eduardo Ramirez to trail 2-1 at the end of two.
The Reds tied the game at two in the bottom of the third on an RBI double by Leonardo Castillo.
The Dodgers took the lead for good in the top of the fourth, scoring six runs on RBI singles by Jahkyl John and Romani Hansen, a sac fly Simmonds, a bases-loaded walk drawn by Rahkeem Richardson, and two runs on Reds errors, to now lead 8-2. The Reds were able to answer with three unearned runs in their half of the inning to trail 8-5 at the end of four.
The Dodgers picked up two insurance runs in the top of the sixth on bases-loaded walks drawn by Richardson and Conroy Samuel to extend their lead to 10-5. The Reds could only muster one run on an RBI single by Reynaldo Sierra, and they went down in defeat by the final score of 10-6.
Simmonds picked up the win for the Dodgers, while Rodriquez got the loss for the Reds. Leading the Dodgers attack were Jahkyl John (2-for-3 with one RBI) and Simmonds (1-for-2 with two RBIs). For the Reds, Figueroa was 2-for-3 with one RBI, and Sierra was 1-for-2 with one RBI.
