Brief: 'Good Sunday' Event to Celebrate St. Croix Families

March 15, 2007 — It's been 10 years since Estate St. John's Ezekiel "Buzz" Thomas passed away. Wanting to do something in memory of Thomas, members of the recently formed group Goodfellaz LLC came up with "Good Sunday," a day when family members can celebrate being a family.
The first "Good Sunday" family fun day will be this Sunday, March 18, from noon to 6 p.m. at UVI's St. Croix campus.
Benson Ward II, friend of Thomas and one of the founding members of Goodfellaz, recently said, "This will be a family affair with old-fashioned games — games with a fun twist to them, such as tug of war, kite flying, three-legged races and much more."
In addition, clowns will mingle through the crowd, a mini-car show will be held, and blow-up bouncers will be an attraction for the youngsters.
According to Ward, prizes will be given out and raffles will be held. Food will be available for purchase, with a percentage of the sales going toward a scholarship fund in memory of Thomas that will benefit Central High seniors.
Also involved in "Good Sunday" will be volunteers from the Village Parent Information Resource Center, the UVI Alumnae Association and UVI Student Government.
Ward said their goal is to "just make it a lotta fun for the whole family."
