Dear Source:
In the past, candidates could throw a good party and get away with acquiring votes through that. People trusted them to go in and do a good job because in many cases they "knew" the person. That is changing more and more, because we have seen that just because we know people does not make them a good official in office.
Richards served as the second highest official in the Virgin Islands to stand up for education and many other issues including corruption. He was in a place of power to really make a difference for the better and he did not.
He sat back for 8 years while schools and education got worse but now wants to say it will get better if he gets the first highest office instead of second? If this was not such a sad thing for the children of these islands who have suffered through the last 8 years from a failing education system, it would be laughable.
We do not need people in office who excel with lip service and lack the action towards really bettering these islands. We do not need people who are looking for an easy street for their pockets. We do not need people who are unaccountable for lack of service or low rated service during their terms.
Every person running for a seat in government needs to come up with something better than just lip service to present to the public before elections. Candidates need to wisen up, times are changing, and the lip service has go to go.
