May 29, 2006 – Billy Bohlke ran a personal course record of 9 minutes and 6 seconds on the fast and downhill Memorial Day 2Mile Road Race course on Sunday to be the first-place male finisher.
Bohlke cruised to a 4:33 mile with top high school runner, Juan Robles, in pursuit; Patrick Joy finished third in 10:38.
Erica Sweitzer established herself as one of the favorites for the upcoming Women Race, being the first female across the finish with a time of 12:31. Dulcie Crowther came in second in 15:03; Elizabeth Nurinburger was third in 17:08.
The annual race honors all of those who have lost their lives in war, as well as specifically remembering Andrew Edwards – founder of Finmen Ocean Swimmers, founding member of the V.I. Triathlon Federation, Little League Baseball coach and endurance athlete.
