VIWMA Distributes Summer Employment Applications

April 14, 2006 – The Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority will be distributing applications for support staff and students for its youth summer employment programs. These summer programs, formerly under the supervision of the Anti-Litter and Beautification Program, have been operated in the territory for more than 11 years. The Youth Employment Summer Program on St. Croix and the Clean and Preen Summer Program on St. Thomas/St. John employ 125 students in each district.
Student applications are available for the St. Thomas/St. John District at the VIWMA's Wheatley Shopping Center office on St. Thomas. The program accepts students from 15-21 years of age who must be attending school. They are employed for six weeks cleaning public areas and increasing their knowledge and skills in environmental and waste management.
Applications for the summer programs support staff are also available on St. Thomas and St. Croix at the VIWMA offices. These positions include: program manager, team leaders, assistant team leaders and office assistants.
For information, call the Division of Environmental Programs at 773-4489 or 778-7657 on St. Croix or 777-3073 on St. Thomas.
