Screening of Documentary 'Jamesie King of Scratch'

March 28, 2006 – Award-winning filmmaker Andrea E. Leland is collaborating with James "Jamesie" Brewster to create a documentary and archiving project focusing on scratch band music. It will be shown with a discussion following from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., on Monday, April 3, at EC401 (St. Croix) and B-110 (St. Thomas). This is part of the UVI Humanities Festival.
The completed documentary will celebrate Quelbe music, the official music of the Virgin Islands, and one of its most legendary performers. After the screening of the nearly finished documentary film and Leland and Brewster will discuss the project. For details on the project, see www.jamesieproject.com.
