Barbados Bowls Out Leeward Islands In Carib Cricket Series

Jan. 30, 2006 — Captain Ryan Hinds led his team over a struggling Leeward Islands squad, ending their Carib Beer Series match early Monday.
Hinds, man of the match, posted two centuries (150 and 168) and made several key catches for Barbados, who go home to play Trinidad Friday.
"I think the team spirit was there. I think we really played as a team," he said.
Barbados won by 173 runs. (Barbados 360 & 307, Leewards 258 & 236.)
Leewards batsman Steve Liburd made a valiant run toward a century — adding 51 to his 44 overnight total — before partner Colin Hamer was bowled by Fidel Edwards shortly before 10 a.m.
Liburd hit 12 fours and three sixes in his overnight stand. He was 95 not out.
The Leewards fell apart late Sunday, losing nine quick wickets before play ended because of bad light.
