Garbage Pick up for Smith Bay Residents Is Expanded

Jan. 27, 2006 – Garbage pick up for residents of Smith Bay has been expanded to three days a week.
Effective immediately house-to-house garbage collection will be on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. A release from the V.I.Waste Management Authority asked that all household waste be placed in a plastic bags in a 30-gallon or larger container with a secure cover. The container is to be placed along the roadside adjacent to the resident's property on the days of collection.
Owners of residential buildings housing four or more apartments are required by VI Law, to provide waste removal for their tenants through a private hauler.
The VIWMA cannot provide house-to-house collections for apartment buildings or commercial or industrial businesses.
