Leeward Islands Chasing Barbados' 360 in Carib Beer Cricket Series

Jan. 27, 2006 — Barbados posted 360 runs in their first batting inning Friday, leaving the Leeward Islands plenty of chasing when the Carib Beer Series cricket match at Cancryn Cricket Grounds resumes Saturday.
The Leewards took over batting late in the day, posting 88 runs for three before play was called off at 5:30 due to failing light.
Shane Jeffers was caught out by Barbados wicketkeeper Patrick Browne, dropping the first wicket.
Leeward batsman Runako Morton scored 41 runs before being caught out by Alcindo Holder.
Carl Simon was caught by Dale Richards off a Ryan Austin Bowl.
The overnight batsmen were Austin Richards, with 27 runs; and Sylvester Joseph, with 3.
Barbados captain Ryan Hinds lead his team with 168 runs.
Hinds went to one knee and sent a six square leg, then immediately knocked a four to the same spot early in the final period.
He found the boundary on three consecutive bowls, and two fielders scrambled to stop the next ball, which gave Hinds another three runs.
His stand ended as his high lob was caught by Sylvester Joseph, 350 for eight.
Moments earlier, Wilden Cornwall caught out Ian Bradshaw, who finished with 25, including a high, fast six that sailed over the spectator stands and slammed into a warehouse outside the cricket grounds.
Hinds and Bradshaw's partnership was by far the most successful for the Bajans, who lost four wickets before lunch.
Holder scored 22 runs before being dismissed leg before wicket at 180 for five.
Patrick Browne hit a pair of back to back fours before bowler Carl Simon found him leg before wicket at 196 for 6.
The final two wickets fell quickly: Ryan Austin was leg before wicket, finishing with one at 359 for 9. Fidel Edwards was caught by Morton to finish the Bajan inning at 360.
