Elmo Plaskett Little League Championships This Weekend

June 22, 2005 – The Elmo Plaskett Little League begins its St. Croix District Championship this coming weekend. The two best-of-three championship series involves the 9-10 year-old division and 11-12 year-old division between the East and West All-star squads.
Representing the Elmo Plaskett Little League East 11-12 year-old division are Tyler Daley, Kaleem Fleming, Mickey Garcia, Kaliff Gerard, Chaquille Joseph, Mark Knight, Delroy Menzie, Carlos Perez, Joshua Torres, William Tutein, Jahmoy Williams, Najee Williams and Frank Wilson. They are managed by Angel Torres Sr. and coached by Pedro "Saba" Felix, Mark Biggs and Wayne Gerard.
The 9-10 year old division EPLL East All-stars include Joel Belboder-Hill (SS, P, 3B), Edwin Calderon (1B, P), Denzel Carter (OF), Luigi Cirilio (CF), Elijah Felix (OF), Jaheem Joseph (OF, P), Ashante Lawrence (C), Khaliff Martineau (2B), Juan Moreau (C, P, OF), Ray Parilla (1B, P), Lakish Plante (2B, C), Jordan Scott (P, SS), Leroy Simmonds III (3B, P) and Daren Stevens (OF). Seven players are returning from last year's all-star team. The East All-stars are managed by Malcolm McGregor and coached by Marvin Benjamin, Carmel Rodriguez and Allan Woods.
The St. Croix District Championships begin this Friday at the Renholdt Jackson Ballpark in Estate Whim on the west side of the big island. Opening ceremonies are slated to start at 5:30 p.m. Then it's the 9-10 division game at 6:15 p.m. followed at 8:15 p.m. by the 11-12 division game. The championship series continue Saturday and if necessary Sunday. The two winning teams will host the St. Thomas All-stars for the V.I. District Championship during the first weekend of August. The 9-10 year-old division winner will travel to Mexico during the first week of September for the Caribbean Championship. The 11-12 year old division winner will host the Latin American Regional Championship in St. Croix.
