Winner of $100,000 Powerball Prize in Virgin Islands

Oct. 5, 2004 — The Virgin Islands Lottery announced Tuesday that someone is out there holding a $100,000 winning ticket.
The ticket was sold on St. Thomas in the Powerball drawing held on Oct. 2. The ticket's winning numbers are 2, 13, 29, 32, 35 and PowerBall 4.
In the Powerball game, the second prize – worth $100,000 – is won by matching five white balls in any order.
"Someone is holding the winning ticket with five matching numbers," Paul Flemming, executive director for the V.I. lottery, said Tuesday. "We are asking everyone to double-check their tickets to see if they are a winner."
The winning ticket was purchased at Mandahl Market.
For the winner to claim the prize, he or she will have to present the ticket to the V.I. Lottery for review and validation by the multi-state Lottery Association.
According to a press release from the V.I. Lottery, the association is a non-profit, government-benefit association owned and operated by member lotteries. The first Powerball drawing was held in 1992 and has become the number one lottery game in the United States, with 27 states participating.
The next Powerball drawing is Wednesday, Oct. 6, with a jackpot of $177 million.
