It's a Half-Century Celebration for St. John

April 2, 2004 – St. John's 50th anniversary July Fourth Celebration, with events running from May 29 through July 5, will be "A Golden Extravaganza Galore for Festival 2004."
Presented by the St. John Festival and Cultural Organization, the celebration will feature a historic focus in the traditional parades, pageants, concerts and cultural fairs. A highlight will be the "Festival Mix" on June 26, a musical extravaganza of reggae, rhythm 'n' blues and soca.
For the first time, a separate Children's Parades and a night parade will be held, both on July 5. Some 48 former Miss St. John winners are expected to participate in the festivities.
This year's Village will honor Lucy Smith-Prince, while the Food Fair will be a tribute to Ianthe Daniel. Guy Benjamin is the 2004 parade marshal.
Following is the rundown of events:
May 29 — Festival Ball, Westin St. John Resort.
June 5 — Mini-Fair, Cruz Bay Park; Pan-O-Rama, Cruz Bay Park.
June 12 — bicycle race, V.I. National Park; Senior Variety Show, Winston Wells Ballfield.
June 13 — Prince and Princess Selection Show, Winston Wells Ballfield.
June 18 — Calypso Show.
June 19 — Miss St. John Selection Show, Winston Wells Ballfield.
June 20 — Food Fair; Queen, Prince and Princess Coronation, Cruz Bay Park; boat races, Cruz Bay harbor.
June 25 — Band-O-Rama, Winston Wells Ballfield.
June 26 — Festival Mix, Winston Wells Ballfield.
June 27 — Gospel Show, Winston Wells Ballfield; opening of children's rides, Little League National Park.
June 28 — Festival Village opening, Cruz Bay parking lot.
July 3 — Cultural Day, Cruz Bay Park; Mr. Emancipation Day Selection, Winston Wells Ballfield.
July 4 — beach party, Oppenheimer Beach.
July 5 – J'ouvert, Cruz Bay; Children's Parade and Adult Parade, Cruz Bay; fireworks over Cruz Bay.
