UVI Nursing Workshop to Feature Author

The Nursing Education Division on the University of the Virgin Islands St. Croix campus will focus on cultural diversity among students and working with disadvantaged students. Workshops geared toward UVI faculty and other teaching professionals and will be held in building Q, room 100, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 27.
Dr. Joyce Newman Giger will be the featured guest speaker. Dr. Giger is a professor of graduate studies at the University of Alabama School of Nursing. She is an expert in the areas of cultural diversity and teaching educationally disadvantaged students. Dr. Giger is also the co-author of the book Transcultural Nursing.
Dr. Giger's visit is funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration Workforce Diversity grant that was awarded to the UVI Nursing Education Division. The workshops are free and open to the public. For information call 692-4010.
