April 26, 2004 – Dean C. Plaskett, commissioner of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources, stated in a recent press release that the department maintains a zero tolerance policy for any vendors within the national historic site boundaries of Fort Christian Museum, during Carnival, without the expressed consent of the Department. The boundaries of the museum are designated by bollards or flanked with poles on east, north, and west entrances of the fort.
He added, "We are also requesting the cooperation of the general public from parking at these entrances to allow pedestrian access to the Carnival village." The Department will enforce these provisions and vendors and vehicles will be removed.
