Dear Source,
I noted with interest J.J. Estemac's comments concerning the poor quality of public education in the Virgin Islands over the past 20 years. (See "Can we improve our public education?")
If I recall correctly, the present governor was commissioner of education some 20 to 30 years ago. Was the system any better under his watch? If so, how could it have deteriorated so much? And if the state of education was dismal in his time as commissioner, why would one expect things to improve because the education commissioner is now governor?
As Yogi Berra would say, "It's déjà vu all over again!"
