LIBRARY TO CELEBRATE KWANZAA PRINCIPAL OF UJIMA

Dec. 24, 2003 — The Enid M. Baa Public Library will celebrate the third day of Kwanzaa, Ujima, from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28. The program will be led by Akinyemi and Mariel Blake and K. Leba Ola-Niyi. Drummers will be in attendance, a release said.
A writing by Kwanzaa creator Maulana Karena details Ujima, collective work and responsibility, as the principal that teaches "that we must build the good world we want and deserve to live in. It urges us to practice an ethics of sharing in order to achieve this good and sustainable world …"
The library's program will be followed by arts and crafts in the children's room and refreshments in the courtyard. The library will be open for registration and checking books in and out, as well.
