DEC. 21 RUINS RAMBLE TOUR IS OF ESTATE BUTLER BAY

Dec. 18, 2003 – The St. Croix Landmarks Society is hosting a Ruins Ramble at Estate Butler Bay on Sunday afternoon.
The guided hiking tour of "one of the best-preserved plantations on St. Croix, complete with greathouse, waterworks and hidden ruins," will begin at 3:30 p.m. George Tyson will provide historical interpretation, and there will be refreshments served at the end of the trek.
Those wishing to participate should meet at the entrance to Estate Butler Bay on Route 63 two miles north of Frederiksted. "Look for the stone entrance pillars and blue sign," publicity states. The charge is $12 for general admission, $8 for Landmarks Society members and $6 for students.
Offered as part of the society's Education Outreach Program, this particular Ruins Ramble will involve moderate hiking. Participants are advised to wear sturdy and comfortable walking shoes and shorts. For more information, send an e-mail to the Landmarks Society or call 772-0598.
