UVI to Observe Veteran's Day on Tuesday, November 11
The University of the Virgin Islands will be closed on Tuesday, November 11, in observance of Veteran's Day.
UVI Jazz Ensemble Plans Concert November 15
The public is invited to a concert by the UVI Jazz Ensemble at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, at UVI's new Dining Pavilion on the St. Thomas campus. The ensemble, conducted by Martin J. Lamkin, will feature several local artists, including pianist Louis Taylor, UVI vocalist Danielle Greenaway, Malita Etiene, and pianist and vocalist Detra Davis. Classic jazz tunes such as A Nightingale Sang in Berkley Square, The Girl from Ipanema, The Way You Look Tonight and Dat Dere will be featured. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students.
Tickets are available at the UVI Humanities Division, the Music Department and UVI Bookstore as well as from ensemble members. For details contact Martin Lamkin at 693-1194.
VIMAS/St. Croix to Sponsor Underwater Slide Presentation November 12
Underwater photographer Hank Tonnemacher will present a slide show titled "Diving Around the World: Some of the World's Best Diving" at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the Theatre in the Evans Center on UVI's St. Croix Campus. The presentation is sponsored by VI Marine Advisory Service on St. Croix. For more information, contact UVI Marine Advisor Marcia Taylor at 692-4046.
St. Croix Screenings Set for 'Me & Mrs. Jones' on November 22-23
"Me & Mrs. Jones," the romantic comedy that was written, produced and directed by Virgin Islander Edward LaBorde Jr., will be screened at 7:30 p.m. at the Island Center on St. Croix on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 22 and 23. The feature-length film, which stars Kim Fields and Brian White, recently enjoyed a sold-out Caribbean premiere on St. Thomas at the Reichhold Center for the Arts.
Tickets for "Me & Mrs. Jones" are $8 and are available at the UVI Bookstore, Essentric Shoe Boutique, People's Drug Store and Parrot Fish in Christiansted. Student tickets, at $5 each, are available only at the UVI Bookstore. For details, contact the Reichhold Center for the Arts at 693-1559.
Spring Semester Advisement/Registration for Returning Students Under Way
Registration for all returning UVI students intending to enroll in Spring 2004 Semester classes is under way on UVIs St. Thomas and St. Croix campuses. In addition to in-person registration, on-line registration via the Internet is available. Students are urged to take advantage of on-line registration. Registration continues through November 12. Spring Semester classes will begin January 10.

Office hours will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. throughout the registration period to accommodate both day and evening students.
Web registration is available daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. On-line registration will close at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
Copies of spring course schedules are available in all division offices, student counseling offices, the Freshman Center, the Registrars Office and the Academic Services Office
Advisement and Registration for new UVI students will be held on Thursday, Jan. 8.
UVI Little Theatre to Present 'Man Better Man' Nov. 21-24
UVI will turn its Little Theatre on the St. Thomas campus into a small, Trinidadian country village set in the late 1960s for the backdrop for its production of the Caribbean musical "Man Better Man." The play, written by Errol Hill, will be staged Nov. 21 through 24. Showtime is 8 p.m. each day.
Tickets are $6 for students and $12 for general admission. Outlets for tickets are the UVI Humanities Division, the UVI Bookstore, Dockside Bookstore and Nisky Pharmacy. For more information call 693-1087.
