AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE TESTING IS CONFERENCE TOPIC

Oct. 20, 2003 – Medical professionals who need to know how to diagnose and monitor autoimmune diseases such as diabetes with laboratory tests are invited to a conference Thursday at Roy L. Schneider Hospital on St. Thomas.
Dr. Ronald A. Blum, director of medical communications at Specialty Laboratories, will give a one-hour presentation on "Laboratory Testing in the Evaluation and Monitoring of Autoimmune Disease" at 11 a.m. in the hospital's Conference Room A. Continuing medical education and continuing education unit credits will be offered for participation.
Blum will talk about how to determine the most appropriate tests for autoimmune diseases, advantages and limitations of the tests, and the development of new lab testing techniques. For more information, call Marilyn Ayala 776-8311, ext. 2317.
