CARNIVAL COMMITTEE: AUDITS SET OF LAST 3 YEARS

Oct. 5, 2003 – The V.I. Carnival Committee announced on Friday that its "executive members" have selected an accounting firm to audit its financial operations for 2001, 2002 and 2003.
The release disseminating the information did not identify the auditors, except as "a local accounting firm."
The release noted that the committee is not a V.I. government entity but a not-for-profit corporation that receives partial funding from the government. "Some public officials unaware of the committee's status tried to invade the privacy of the committee's operations but relented after legal advisement," it stated.
The audit will prove that the committee "is under fiscally responsible leadership," Caswil Callender, executive director, said. "We have nothing to hide about the operations."
