Oct. 1, 2003 — The Virgin Islands Pace Runners and The Ocean Conservancy invite runners to participate in the annual CoastWeeks Beach Relay, which will be held at 6 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Ha' Penny Beach — one of the longest beaches on St. Croix.
Teams of two will run two miles each on the beach. There is no entry fee. Over the years participants in this event and other community organizations have made the effort to make this beach one of the most beautiful and environmentally safe by removing debris. All are welcome.
Top teams will get awards, and all participants will get certificates. Last year saw 18 teams compete, and the top winners were Amalie Lockhart and kewoon Steele of the St. Croix Education Complex High School in a time of 26 minutes and 8 seconds.
For more information contact V.I. Pace Runners at 777-0258. For an entry form, logon to the V.I. Pace Web site.
