PHONE COMPANY REPAIRS CAUSE OTHER PROBLEMS

March 13, 2002 – If you were in the middle of your sentence when your telephone suddenly starting making clunking noises and cut you off, or you got busy, busy, busy signals when you tried to dial out on Wednesday, blame it on Innovative Telephone repairs.
Spokeswoman Janette Millin said that as phone company crews were making repairs on St. Thomas, they had to switch systems. As a result, "Some calls were dropped," she said.
Millin said that what exactly the crews were doing was very technical and therefore difficult to explain. She said she was aware of problems only in the morning, but there were some occurrences in the afternoon as well.
However, she said late Wednesday that the problem had stabilized.
