May 23, 2001 — The Salvation Army Debra Sam, will launch a story hour this weekend on St. Thomas.
Storytelling will take place starting at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tutu Park Mall, in the space next to Pro Nails. Plans are to test out the program every Saturday until June 30 and to continue it indefinitely if warranted by the public response.
"If I can be successful at presenting stories in a creative and exciting fashion, then I have taken our children one step closer to reading for pleasure," said Salvation Army Capt. Debra Sam.
Pamela Morales, marketing director for the mall, invited other groups to collaborate on similar projects.
