CARTY, ORTIZ, QUERRARD GET POLICE PROMOTIONS

Deputy Police Chief Theodore Carty was one of three officers who were promoted this week by Police Commissioner Franz Christian.
Carty, a 30-year veteran and the top St. Thomas-St. John cop, received the rank of police captain after serving as a lieutenant for 10 years. Sgt. Ramon Ortiz, a 29-year veteran assigned to the Mariel Newton Command in Tutu, was promoted to lieutenant. Sgt. Rodney Querrard also attained the rank of lieutenant. He is a 14-year veteran on assignment with the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force, where he will continue.
Retired Police Lt. Ohanio Harris, now a special assistant to Gov. Charles W. Turnbull, represented the governor at Wednesday's ceremony at the Alexander Farrelly Justice Complex.
