ROTHGEB TAKES THE REINS AT WAPA

Glenn Rothgeb was appointed acting executive director of the V.I. Water and Power Authority on Thursday at WAPA's governing board meeting.
Rothgeb, who had been serving as assistant executive director, takes over for Raymond George, who is retiring from the post.
The board also authorized a contract with Seven Seas Water Corporation to supply St. John with an additional 90,000 gallons of water a day. Seven Seas was contracted for similar service last year when the Israel Desalination Engineering unit was repaired; WAPA's own desalination plant will supplement Seven Seas' reverse osmosis plant.
The board also said it would donate 600,000 gallons of water to the St. Thomas Swimming Association for the community swimming pool now under construction. STSA will be responsible for transporting the water.
