11 RUN IN MARTIN LUTHER KING 5K ROAD RACE

The Martin Luther King 5K Road Race ,sponsored by the St Thomas Association of Roadrunners, attracted 11 runners Sunday morning. The 5K (3.1 mi.) run was deceptively challenging. The race course, which began at Vitraco Park and ended by the Sugar Estate Post Office, featured two loops around the perimeter of the Schneider Hospital.
The first runner to cross the finish line was Jerry Wentworth in 23:34. He was followed by the first woman ,Jennie Wentworth, in a time of 25:35. Next was Charlotte Morris, the second woman finisher, at 25:45.
Eddie Brent, the second place man, was next across the finish line coming in at 26:27.
Kevin Lenahan was the third male finisher in a time of 26:30. Melanie Taylor, the third woman and William F. Johnson crossed the finish line together in 28:25. Dave Studell was the final man in at 29:25.
Ruth Baldwin ran in a time of 29:44, followed by Beverly Clendinen in 34:56.
The Martin Luther King Annual Track Meet is Saturday, Jan. 20 at 10 a.m. at the Charlotte Amalie High School track. The 1500 meters is open to all runners.
