TOURIST STRUCK BY CAR ON LONG BAY ROAD

A passenger from the cruise ship Carnival Destiny was in stable condition at Roy L. Schneider Hospital after being struck by a vehicle on Long Bay Road around 1 p.m. Monday.
The unidentified man was apparently crossing the two-lane roadway when he was struck by a vehicle and crashed into its windshield, then was struck by another oncoming vehicle before falling to the ground.
Members of St. Thomas Rescue and emergency medical technicians assisted the injured man, who was later transported to the hospital by ambulance. He appeared to have suffered injuries to one of his legs and multiple lacerations and abrasions about the body.
Police traffic investigators are probing the cause of the accident. The vehicle that struck the man was traveling west on Long Bay Road, according to police sources.
A police spokesman did not know Monday afternoon whether the vehicle stopped or a traffic citation was issued.
