ODOR A MYSTERY, BUT CLASSES RESUME AT CAHS

Classes will resume Thursday at Charlotte Amalie High School after being canceled Wednesday due to mysterious "strong odors" in the school's administration wing.
A release from the Education Department early Wednesday evening said the odors had been "considerably dissipated." However, it did not say where the smell came from or describe the odor.
Deputy Superintendent William Frett did say, "A tree on the campus which emits an odor when it is in full bloom has been removed." He also said deodorizers had been placed in the affected area and ventilation had been increased.
The results of tests from air density plates that had been placed throughout the school Tuesday had not been received as of Wednesday night, according to Ethlyn Joseph, director of Environmental Health, but Frett said they were expected by noon Thursday. She also said, "Additional air quality testing will be conducted by Mr. Andre Smith from OSHA. Those tests will be done on Thursday morning."
Students are expected to return to their classes on Thursday.
