YOUTH GAMES GIVE SENSE OF PRIDE

Dear Source,
I'm writing to congratulate the athletes and organizers of the 2000
Youth Games.
I was thrilled to see that this type of competition is going on in the VI.
Back in the early 80's when I was at Charlotte Amalie High School I was a member of the St Thomas volleyball team. The event was called "The Inter-Island Meet" and it was St. Thomas-St John vs. St. Croix.
And I might add, St. Thomas-St. John won the 2 years I competed. But I would like to say that just the experience itself had a greater effect on me than the fact that we won our event. As a 15 and 16 year old it gave a me a sense of pride knowing that I was chosen as on of the best athletes in the VI. And I am sure the participants of the 2000 games feel the same way. I know the vast majority of these kids will not be professional athletes; but the experience will stay with them forever, as it did for me. Again, hats off to everyone involved.
Thank You
