MARLINS DEFEAT THE PIRATES

The Marlins defeated the Pirates, 11-3 Tuesday afternoon in the Elrod Hendricks West Little League at the Emile Griffith Ballpark
For the first three innings of the game, it was a pitching duel. The Marlins led 1-0. However, the Pirates defense failed to preserve the integrity of the game. The Pirates allowed the Marlins six unearned runs. The Pirates committed three costly errors, in the top of the fourth inning. The Marlins kept the runs rolling in, scoring four earned runs in the fifth inning.
Pirate pitcher Chayne O’ Neal tried to help his own cause going two for two at the plate to lead his team offensively. However, his offense was not enough.
After giving up a lead off single and a RBI double to start off the sixth, his mound counterpart Jason Thompson struck out the final three batters to end the ballgame.
