DUO LEADS JARVIS TO VICTORY

J. Antonio Jarvis Elementary School defeated Joseph Sibilly School by a score of 38-18 Tuesday afternoon in the Housing Parks and Recreation / Department of Education 9-12 Basketball League at the Alvin McBean Basketball Court.
Jarvis’ duo of Rakeem Richards and Joel Mills each scored 13 points to outmatch Sibilly. Richards and Mills showed great confidence in dominating Sibilly.
No Sibilly player scored more than four points as Jarvis doubled them 20-10 at halftime and never looked back.
In game two of the afternoon, Michael J. Kirwan survived a late second half run to defeat Bertha C. Boschulte 43-31.
BCB was down 29-12 at halftime. However, they closed the deficit to four, 33-29, with three minutes remaining. Kirwan coach Frankie Brathwaite abruptly called a time out to break BCB’s momentum. This settled Kirwan down. Coming out of the stop in action, Kirwan used good defense to hold BCB to just two points for the rest of the game.
For BCB it was a two-man show as Timothy Brewer scored 22 and Craig George scored 9 for all of their teams points.
Kirwan utilized their height and size advantage to intimidate BCB. Corey Victoria and Rashawn Parson had good chemistry, scoring 20 and 15 points respectively to lead Kirwan to victory.
