POLICE INVESTIGATING C’STED MAN’S DEATH

Police are investigating the murder of a 40-year-old Christiansted man found Monday morning with a severe head wound.
Police responded to a call of a man down at about 9 a.m. Monday, said Deputy Police Chief Novelle Francis. Upon their arrival to 17 Hill St. home in Christiansted, Francis said officers found Anthony "Scratchy" Petersen "bleeding profusely from the head."
Petersen died shortly after he was transported to the Juan F. Luis Hospital, Francis said.
"He apparently received a blow to the head with a blunt object," said Francis.
As of Monday afternoon, Francis said investigators had no motive or suspects in the case. Petersen's murder is the second on St. Croix in 2000 and the fourth territory wide.
Francis urged anyone with information to call the Criminal Investigations Bureau at 778-2211 or police 911. Callers can remain anonymous.
