AIRPORT OPEN

Cyril E. King Airport reopened at 11:15 a.m. Friday. V.I. Port Authority spokesperson Shirley Smith said winds were between 12 and 26 knots with continuing turbulence.
High winds left behind by Hurricane Lenny forced the Port Authority to close the St. Thomas airport at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
With winds gusting as high as 47 knots, the Port Authority said it had received numerous reports from pilots experiencing moderate to severe turbulence as they approached the Cyril E. King Airport.
In reopening the airport,Smith said conditions would be monitored carefully. She added though the airport is open, the traveling public must contact the airlines for specific flight information.
