Shirley L. Smith, spokeswoman for the V.I. Port Authority said she had been informed late Wednesday afternoon that the last ferry from Red Hook to St. John would be leaving the Red Hook Dock at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
The docks on St Thomas and Cruz Bay, St. John will be closed after that, according to Smith.
She could not say when ferry service would resume between the two islands, but said she would get the word out as soon as she knew.
Earlier in the day St. Thomas Source was informed the last ferry would leave both docks at 4 p.m.
Smith could not confirm when the last ferry was to leave St. John.
