WOMAN FOUND BEATEN IN BUSH

A woman, reportedly of Asian descent, was found seriously injured and unconscious early Sunday morning in the bushes below Drake's Seat.
Police were notified at 3:35 a.m. by Kerdil Lewis who reported that he heard moaning in the bushes below the popular overlook above Magens Bay.
A release from Chief of Police Jose Garcia said it would appear from her injuries that the unidentified woman had been brutally assaulted.
Police Capt. Adelbert Molyneaux said there were severe injuries to the woman's head. She is in the intensive care unit of the Roy L. Schneider Hospital, where she remains unconscious.
Though the police don't know if there is a connection, they got a call earlier that evening from someone in the North Star Village area to report a woman screaming somewhere near that north side neighborhood about a mile from Drake's Seat.
That call came in at 1:05 a.m. and a unit was dispatched to investigate, according to Molyneaux. But police found nothing unusual.
Police are asking anyone who may have information on the identity of the woman to please call the Investigation Bureau at 774-4050, 774-2196 or 911.
