FOSTER PARENTS NEEDED FOR SPECIAL-NEEDS KIDS

The Human Services Department is soliciting families able and willing to provide foster care for children in the territory, particularly those with special needs.
Special-needs children, Human Service Commissioner Sedonie Halbert said, are youngsters who are physically, mentally and/or emotionally challenged.
It would be advantageous if potential foster parents for these children have experience caring for youngsters with such special needs, Halbert said. However, she added, for those without such experience who are "willing to open their homes and hearts," training can be provided.
For details on providing foster care in general and for special-needs children in particular, call 774-4393 on St. Thomas or 773-5303 on St. Croix.
