DELEGATE ACCOMPANIES GORE TO CONFERENCE

Virgin Islands Delegate Donna M. Christian-Christensen accompanied Vice President Al Gore today to the National Urban League Conference in Houston to advise him on health issues to be included in his address to the League.
Christensen, who was attending the National Medical Association conference in Las Vegas, flew with Gore to Houston this morning on Air Force Two to discuss health care issues of concern to African Americans.
Christensen, a physician, chairs the Congressional Black Caucus's Health Braintrust.
Christensen said in her release about the trip that she will also speak to Gore about furthering economic initiatives for the territory.
Noting Gore's office has oversight for empowerment zone development, Christensen said, "I will use this opportunity to speak with him directly about pursuing more initiatives in our economically distressed community."
The delegate will return to the NMA convention later today.
