Five people have been appointed to the V.I. Water and Power Authority's governing board by Gov. Charles Turnbull. If confirmed by the Legislature, they would constitute a majority on the nine-member board.
In the St. Thomas-St. John district, former Senate president Claude "Tappy" Molloy will succeed George Parrot, and former St. John administrator William Lomax will replace Cecil George.
From St. Croix, former Sen. Carol Burke has been nominated to replace Harold Brown, and Alphonso Franklin and attorney G. Luz James have been appointed to fill vacancies.
The appointments, which would last three years, have been submitted to the 23rd Legislature.
The WAPA board consists of six private members plus three government officials who serve at the governor's pleasure. Turnbull has now replaced three of the four private members and filled two vacancies in that category.
The sixth private member is board Chairman J. Arthur Downing, whose term expired in June.
