2 REPENTENT MEN GET PROBATION IN ROLEX THEFT

Two tearful and repentent men were sentenced Thursday to five years of supervised probation and ordered to pay restitution for their roles in stealing jewelry and Rolex watches from Little Switzerland.
District Judge Thomas K. Moore ordered Glenn Freeman and Carlos Diaz, both 34, to pay $260 a month until they've fully paid the $18,208 that represents the value of the items they stole, Friday's Daily News reported.
Diaz, a supervisor at Federal Express at Cyril E. King Airport, took the packages of jewelry and watches and gave them to Freeman, a telephone repairman, to fence, the paper said.
Both men pleaded guilty. They could have received up to 10 years in prison and/or a $250,000 fine.
Moore also ordered them to take part in a program that will require them to speak six times a year to school children about the lessons they learned.
