Police Investigate Death of Man Who Jumped into Harbor

 

A man whose name was withheld by police pending notification of next of kin died Tuesday afternoon after jumping into the water at the Charlotte Amalie waterfront, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, at about 3:51 p.m. June 8 the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report that a man had jumped into the Charlotte Amalie waterfront. He was taken out of the water and transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center via ambulance for treatment.

Despite efforts from medical personnel to revive him, the man was pronounced dead at 4:48 p.m.

Police urged anyone having information about this incident to call 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 extension 5569, the Crime TipLine at 340-778-4950, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS).
