UVI’s 2013 Spring Semester Begins Jan. 14; Online Registration for Continuing Students Underway Spring Semester classes at the University of the Virgin Islands are scheduled to begin on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013. Registration for continuing UVI students is now underway, with access through the university’s Banweb system, an online registration and student information tool. Late registration for continuing students is set for Jan. 10 and 11, with an add/drop period scheduled from Jan. 14 to 18.
Returning students are reminded that they must first meet with their academic advisors to prepare individual schedules and obtain an alternate Personal Identification Number (PIN), which is needed to access Banweb. To learn the names of their advisors, students should contact the Office of the Dean of their school or college. Students may also contact the Office of the Registrar or Associate Registrar via e-mail at registrar@uvi.edu for assistance.

New Student Orientation UVI orientation for new students enrolling in spring semester classes is scheduled for Jan. 8 to 11, on both campuses, with new student advisement and registration scheduled for Jan. 9. All newly matriculated students are required to participate in orientation activities before the start of the semester for academic advising and development of their class schedules.
Orientation will also include placement testing, sessions designed to introduce new students to UVI college life, campus tours and keynote addresses on both campuses. Complete orientation schedules and additional information for UVI’s St. Thomas campus and the Albert A. Sheen Campus on St. Croix will be available from the Related Support Services tab on the Admissions section of the UVI Web site – http://www.uvi.edu – and from http://admissions.uvi.edu.
Student Placement Testing Student placement testing in math and English for the spring 2013 semester is scheduled for Jan. 8, on both campuses. Testing details – locations and times – are available from the Registrar’s section of the UVI Web site. The tests are computer-based and are administered simultaneously. Admitted students should bring a picture ID and SAT or ACT scores, if possible. Calculators will not be permitted on the math placement test. A math test preparation guide is available at http://bit.ly/taGZ6q. Reading and writing sample tests can be found at www.accuplacer.org – use the “Information “For Students” button.
Registration for 2013 Summer Sessions I and II Continues Online registration is also now available for students interested in taking UVI summer session classes in 2013. Summer Session I classes will run from May 13 through June 17. Summer Session II classes are slated for June 20 through July 26. Registration for each summer session continues until the start of classes. Summer session class schedules and other details are also now available from the registrar’s section of the UVI Web site – http://www.uvi.edu
