Executive Director Julio Rhymer will leave the Water and Power Authority at the end of December to become director of Office of Management and Budget pending approval by the V.I. Legislature, Gov Kenneth Mapp said Monday night.
Chief Operating Officer Clinton Hedrington will step in as acting director.
Mapp made the announcement at his Government House news conference.
Rhymer will be nominated to replace Nellon Bowry, who is retiring.
Rhymer has been at the helm of WAPA since former Executive Director Hugo Hodge Jr. was voted out by the board in June 2016.
Speculation began growing on social media over the weekend that Rhymer had been ousted or suspended, eliciting the response from WAPA that “Mr. Rhymer is the executive director/chief executive officer of the V.I. Water and Power Authority.”
