The Virgin Islands Police Department is investigating a reported shots-fired incident Tuesday evening near the Vegetable Market on Queen Street in Frederiksted, St. Croix, after multiple 911 calls and gunshot detection alerts were received, the department reported.
Police said the 911 Emergency Call Center received several calls reporting gunfire at about 7:08 p.m. on Tuesday. The department’s shots fired detection system also registered multiple alerts in the area.
According to the VIPD police report, one caller reported that someone had been injured and that a blue SUV left the area at a high rate of speed.
Officers and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene but did not locate any victims, police said. Juan F. Luis Hospital also reported that no one sought medical treatment in connection with the incident, the report stated.
The investigation remains ongoing, it stated.
