A California man was arrested at Cyril E. King Airport Sunday with more than seven pounds of psilocybin mushrooms and more than 55 pounds of cannabis in his baggage, according to Customs and Border Protection.
The 3.24 kilograms of psychoactive mushrooms would carry a street value of roughly $17,800 and, according to some dosage charts, be enough for roughly 540 very significant experiences.
Andy Thanh Thongdy, of Santa Rosa, California, was also allegedly packing roughly 55 pounds of cannabis in vacuum sealed pouches within his two suitcases, according to court records.
Thongdy allegedly told Customs agents he was bringing clothes to a man named Jose, who had purchased his American Airlines ticket for him.
Customs agents said the quantity and manner of packaging was consistent with intent to distribute, not personal use.
Thongdy, the agents told a federal judge, had no previous criminal record. A LinkedIn profile for a Santa Rosa man named Andy Thongdy lists his occupation as a ramp agent and baggage handler for Delta Airlines.
Thongdy was released Monday on $10,000 bail.
